My ADHD Was Misdiagnosed as Borderline Personality Disorder

More specifically, I’m Autistic and ADHD, but I was first misdiagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

I was misdiagnosed with BPD in 2010, wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until 2019, and then self-diagnosed Autistic in 2021.

Women, non-binary people, and female-presenting individuals are more likely to be misdiagnosed with a personality disorder than CIS-men.

This male doctor tried to mansplain my own mental health issues to me without actually hearing what I was communicating about my own experience and symptoms.

One of the best side-effects of my ADHD treatment is improved self-worth and self-acceptance.
